SSC CHSL DEST (Data Entry Speed Test): instructions
- This mock test follows the SSC CHSL skill test for Data Entry Operator: 2,000 key depressions in 15 minutes (8,000 per hour) on a computer, in English.
- Type as much of the passage as you can. Speed and errors are not shown while you type; the result appears at the end.
- Full mistakes: a word left out, a wrong word, or a word that is not in the passage. Half mistakes: spelling, capitalisation and spacing errors.
- Error % = (full mistakes + half of the half mistakes) ÷ words typed × 100. Allowed: 7% for UR and EWS candidates, 10% for OBC, SC, ST, PwBD and ESM candidates.
- You pass when you type at least 2,000 key depressions and stay within the error limit. The test is submitted automatically when the time is over.
Don’ts
- Don’t paste text or use shortcut keys. Paste is turned off.
- Don’t press Enter at the end of each line: lines wrap by themselves.
- Don’t add extra spaces between words. More than one extra space counts as a mistake.
