GCC-TBC Hindi 40 WPM: instructions
- This mock test follows the speed passage section of the GCC-TBC exam (Government Certificate in Computer Typing Basic Course, Maharashtra State Council of Examinations, Pune).
- First you get a 3-minute trial passage to warm up. It is not marked.
- After the trial, a 30-second countdown runs. You cannot type during it.
- Then the 7-minute speed passage starts: 280 words, that is 40 words per minute. Type the whole passage before the time runs out.
- Speed and accuracy are not shown while you type. Your marks and result appear at the end.
- Each mistake takes off 1 mark out of 40: a spelling mistake, a word left out, a word that is not in the passage, and every word not typed (incomplete typing). 16 marks (40%) are needed to pass.
- If you finish early, read your typing again and correct mistakes, then press Submit. When the time is over, the passage is submitted automatically.
- The exam uses the Unicode Mangal font with the Remington layout (ISM). Here you type with the same key positions on an English (US) keyboard; no ISM software is needed. Keys such as the question mark and brackets are not used in Marathi and Hindi passages.
- In Hindi, end a sentence with the danda (।) right after the word, without a space before it.
Don’ts
- Don’t paste text or use shortcut keys. Paste is turned off.
- Don’t press Enter at the end of each line: lines wrap by themselves.
- Don’t add extra spaces between words. More than one extra space counts as a mistake.
The speed passage starts in 30 seconds
