Chinese (Simplified) (简体中文) is a Sinitic (Chinese) language of the Sino-Tibetan family, spoken in mainland China and Singapore (simplified characters). It is written in simplified Chinese characters: each character stands for a syllable with a meaning, and simplified forms are used in mainland China and Singapore.
English is a Germanic language (Indo-European family), spoken in countries around the world; in India it is used alongside Hindi for the official work of the Union government, in courts and in higher education. It is written in the Latin alphabet: an alphabet in which vowels and consonants are separate letters.
